Casa Agrícola Horta Osório has a set of properties in the Douro Region with a total of 52 hectares (130 acres). The main Quinta, named Quinta dos Osórios is located on the right bank of Corgo river and will reach 40 hectares (100 acres) of vineyard.
With an altitude ranging between 140 to 400 meters, the vineyard was planted in terraces with only one line of vines forming an unilateral cord, with a drainage system and a drip irrigation system which is only triggered in cases of extreme drought. With consideration of the environment and local biodiversity, the water used for irrigation originally comes from a waste water treatment station (ETAR) from Corgo River. In this Quinta with schist soils, we planted red grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão. The white grapes, such as Rabigato, Viosinho, Verdelho, Arinto and Alvarinho, are planted at a higher altitude with less sun exposure.
Quinta do Pontão is located in the Cumieira village center and has 4 hectares (10 acres) of old vines with the best Douro grape varietals in schist soils.
Rossaio is a small vineyard with 1.5 hectares (3.5 acres) that faces north, at an altitude of 380m, and contains only Alvarinho grapes.
The remaining old vines, 10 hectares (25 acres) are scattered in small parcels of schist soils, and were planted over 70 years ago with the best varieties of Douro Demarcated Region.
